Fall 2011 leaf pick-up

Leaf pick-up has changed a little this year. Here's the deal:

1) The city recommends composting your leaves as the greenest practice.

2) Beginning October 24th (next week) through December 22nd, you may place biodegradable (paper) bags of leaves out on yard waste collection days without green tags. Remember our yard waste collection days are every other week, so November 2nd, 16th, and 30th, and December 14th for our neighborhood. As always, bags may not weigh more than 40 pounds.

3) Each residence will have ONE and only ONE vacuuming pick-up this season. Plan to have leaves raked to the curb by November 14th for vacuuming, which runs November 14th to December 30th. You can track leaf vacuuming online at http://bloomington.in.gov/leaves.

If there is anyone in the neighborhood who composts and needs more leaves than they produce, I'm sure there are folks on the list who would be happy to supply some.

And if anyone has any questions about this year's schedule, more information is available online from the sanitation department.
