Elections 2011 and Block Party review

This past Saturday was our block party and annual meeting. Thanks to all the neighbors who came out. We had gorgeous weather for a cookout on the street.

This was our lowest attended block party. It seems many people were on vacation after the extra long school year. We did manage to get quorum for elections. So, here's what happened at the brief meeting, which lasted approximately 10 minutes.

First order of business was elections. Two offices were up for election: President and one Member-at-Large. Meagan Eller was re-elected President. Gillian Field was elected Member-at-Large. Both were unanimous.

The by-laws were readopted by unanimous vote.

Treasurer's report: Our current balance at the time of the meeting was $99.40, including $28.30 collected Saturday by redeeming aluminum cans.

Julie's report: She started a new activity in the fall and hopes it continues. The neighborhood sponsored 3 children through Shalom Center, purchasing Christmas presents for them. About half a dozen neighbors participated.

President's report: We had 9 or 10 families participate in the garage sales in May. This seems to be a popular event.

General comments: The ice cream social and pizza party are both very popular events that people would like to see continue. Gillian will organize the ice cream social again this year, in either August or September.
