Bypass closing at tracks

Bypass will be closed between 3rd and 10th for 2 weeks starting June 13th. During that time the Indiana Railroad will be working on the crossing. The detours are via Pete Ellis for south-bound traffic and via Smith for north-bound traffic. A temporary 3-way stop light will be installed at 10th and Smith during construction. I imagine the major impact for our neighborhood will be the increased traffic on 10th and on Smith, making it more difficult to get out of the neighborhood during those two weeks. We all might want to leave a little additional time getting places.

Alternative transportation to downtown and campus is available via the #6 bus, which stops on Smith just south of the tracks and on 10th by Barrington Place. The #8 bus is also available at those stops and will take you to College Mall and to Kroger.

If you enjoy walking or biking, I would guess the bike trail may not be a good option, although I haven't heard if it will be closed at Bypass during this time.
