Annual Block Party!

Our annual neighborhood block party will be held on Saturday, June 11th at 4:30 p.m. Join your neighbors for a fun celebration on Staats Dr. between Grandview and Post. We will block off the street, so feel free to bring bikes or games for the kids to play.

What the GHNA will provide: grills to cook on, tables, paper products (plates, napkins, cutlery), and beverages.

What you should bring: something to grill for your family, a dish to pass, and chairs.

We will hold a brief meeting during the block party in which we will elect new officers and re-adopt the by-laws. Offices up for election are president, currently Meagan Eller, and one member at large, currently Julie Fox. A link to the by-laws can be found at the top of the blog page.

Please consider taking an office if you would like to get more involved with the neighborhood. Duties are 2 short (usually under 1 hour) meetings (in June to organize events for the year and in May to organize the block party) plus each officer organizes 1 activity (ice cream social, yard sales, pizza party, etc) during the year.

I hope to see plenty of neighbors. I enjoy getting to know more people in the neighborhood and catch up with folks I don't see often.

Annual yard sale

The date has been set for our annual neighborhood yard/garage sale: Saturday, May 21st, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Time to start cleaning out attics, basements, closets and garages. Whether you have a lot or a little, this is a great opportunity to clear things out and make a few dollars.

The GHNA will purchase an ad in the HT and place signs at the entrances to the neighborhood. Each participating family will need to post a sign at their house and run their individual sale.

We also plan to distribute a map of sales to each participating household again, so please contact me (you may even reply to this post to do so) if you are interested in having a yard sale and I will make sure you are on the map.

We hold the sale rain or shine, so having a plan in place for rain is a good idea. Which reminds me, I need to clear space in the garage....
